LIBRARY RULES FOR BILKENT ALUMNI
I. Registration
I.1. A registration form (available on the
library web page at http://library.bilkent.edu.tr/alumniform.doc
or from the Circulation Desk) should be filled out and submitted with
2 photographs. If eligible, the applicant will receive his/her "Bilkent
University Library User Card" within one week.
I.2.To obtain the user card the applicant
pays a deposit to the library, the amount to be determined
at the beginning of each academic year. Upon cancellation of the membership
amount of the deposit is paid back to the user after deduction of any amount
owing for late return or loss of a book.
I.3. Books are borrowed and returned on
presentation of the "Bilkent University I.D. Card" (or the
"Bilkent University Library User Card"). Books on loan to the user
with their due dates may be viewed by the borrower by selecting "Library
Borrower Functions" on a library OPAC terminal.
II. At the Entrance
II.1. It is strongly urged that coats, jackets,
briefcases, bookbags, etc. be left at the cloakroom. Personal belongings
may be subject to search on leaving the library.
II.2. The library collection is protected by an
electronic checkpoint at the exit. If the alarm goes off, please cooperate
with the library staff. (You may be subject to a body search)
III. Borrowing
III.1. Alumni may borrow up to 2 books at a
time for 30 days. (This number may be increased if a larger deposit is made.)
III.2. The loan period may be extended,
provided there has been no request for the books.
III.3. The library reserves the right to recall
borrowed material before the due date.
IV. Overdue and Lost Books
IV.1. Although the library will attempt to
notify the user when books are past due, the borrower bears full
responsibility for their timely return.
IV.2. A fine per book per day is charged for
late returns.
IV.3. Books overdue by more than one month will
be treated as lost.
IV.4. When in one semester 10 books have been
returned overdue, or one book has been returned more than 10 days overdue, the
user will not be allowed to borrow books for one year. If this situation
occurs a second time the membership will be terminated.
IV.5. If the amount of fine accumulated for
overdue books is over the limit announced at the beginning of the academic
year, no further borrowing is permitted.
IV.6. In the case of loss of a book, the user
will be obliged to pay its replacement value in Turkish
Liras at the Central Bank rate of exchange prevailing on the day of payment,
plus 50%, together with the amount owing for late returns as of the date on
which the book is reported lost.
MEMBERSHIPS WILL BE CANCELLED
FOR MISUSE OF OR DAMAGE TO LIBRARY MATERIALS OR PREMISES.

DRINKING
MOBILE PHONES MAY NOT BE USED AND
MUST BE TURNED OFF
The Main and East Campus Libraries
have different opening hours.
Special collections in the Main Library have their owen hours, too. Changes
in hours during holidays are announced
in advance on the library web page.
